The Different Versions of QuickBooks
In total, there are 8 versions of QuickBooks
available today. A summary of these 8 versions is provided below:

Enterprise Solutions |
Priced at $2,500, $3,500 with
service package, the Enterprise Edition offers 10-user capacity,
improved performance, up to 29,000 customers, or 29,000 inventory
items. Also includes all the new 2005 features of Pro, Premier and
Premier: Accountant Editions. Unfortunately, this version is based
on file locking which prohibits most larger companies from really
using it with more than 3 users.

Premier: Accountant Edition
2005 |
Priced at $500, this version
provides all features listed below, plus multiple journal entry
views, and reports with one-line transaction summaries. |

Premier: Contractor Edition
2005 |
Priced at $500, this version
provides all features listed below plus strong job costing such as
new reports and change orders. |

Premier Edition 2005 |
Priced at $500, this version
provides all features listed below plus remote access, enhanced
journal entries, analysis tools, inventory assemblies, sales order
tracking, forecasting, business planning, etc. It does not
provide strong job costing such as new reports and change orders.

Pro Edition 2005 |
Priced at $300, this version
provides all features listed below plus multi-user access,
supports custom price levels, job costing, integration to
Microsoft Office, customizable statements, etc. It does not
provide remote access, enhanced journal entries, analysis tools,
inventory assemblies, sales order tracking, forecasting, etc.

Basic Edition 2005 |
Priced at $200,
this version of QuickBooks is the most basic version. It does not
support custom price levels, job costing, integration to Microsoft
Office, multi-user access, customizable statements, etc. There is
no reason we can think of where anyone should be using this
version.

Online Edition |
Priced at $20 per month for 3
users, $30 per month for 10 users, and $50 per month for 25 users,
the online edition is a new product built similarly to the other
QuickBooks versions, but not based on the other QuickBooks
versions. You will find many differences and this version does not
support purchase orders, job costing, inventory tracking,
assemblies, sales orders, etc. However, it does support many
users and multiple locations.

Priced at $665.
Rings up sales like a cash register, tracks inventory, stores
customer information, transfers summarized sales data and
inventory asset account values into QuickBooks, works with
Intuit-tested point of sale hardware - receipt printer, cash
drawer, bar code scanner and credit card swipe – which can be
purchased for an additional $650.
